Ilse

Municipal Cultural Center of Valls

June 8 | 20:00 - 21:30

The show begins with Ruth Elias, a survivor of Theresienstadt and Auschwitz, who, now grown up, tells her experiences to her grandchildren. This allows us to have a flashback about life in the ghetto and how she met Ilse Weber. To limit it to a specific space-time, it begins with the preparations for the visit that the envoys of the International Red Cross are to make to the ghetto . Once this visit was made, many of the protagonists were deported and murdered in the gas chambers of Auschwitz, where our story ends. In between, we can see the small personal stories of Ilse, who writes poems and letters to her son who has been saved, Hanus, as well as Ruth’s pregnancy just before being sent to Auschwitz.

Far from easy melodrama, this will be a presentation of the facts from the points of view of the two women and the children they cared for. The ending will be a song of peace and not a depiction of human drama.
