The Christmas story ( A Christmas Carol ) by Charles Dickens, originally published in English in 1843, tells the story of a miserly, selfish man full of seemingly irreversible scars (Mr. Ebenezer Scrooge) and his conversion after ‘a series of ghost visits during Christmas night. Written in the middle of the Victorian era and with a melancholy sense of the past, Christmas and the values of pining against greed, it was enormously popular. With the idea of showing the nuances of this masterful text by Dickens, Albert Guinovart gives us a beautiful score, sensitive and full of contrasts. A music at the service of the words that draws all the characters in the narrative. Energizing the musical action, Borja González’s sand drawings give it an even more poetic edge. On a handmade light table and in total synchrony with the music and the text, he models the illustration with sand to evoke the various scenes and the various characters of the narrative. VOICES – Amics de la Unió Children’s Choir, together with the Gran Teatre del Liceu Orchestra offers a classic of our Christmas: art, delicacy and precision!
