Veus – Cor Infantil Amics de la Unió
Veus – Cor Infantil Amics de la Unió was created in 1996 within the Amics de la Unió Music School established that same year as part of the Societat Coral Amics de la Unió, a society which since 1877 has been committed to promoting choral music and ensuring its diffusion.
Conducted by Josep Vila i Jover since its formation, this choir is known for by the quality, eclecticism and uniqueness of their productions. It is formed with young singers aged from 11 to 17 and it is one of the best Spanish children choirs. Nowadays it is based on the Teatre Auditori de Granollers.
The choir has performed and produced children’s operas, school and family concerts, musicals, concerts with choreographies and dramaturgy, and productions which aim to present vocal music in an original and exciting way.
Veus – Cor Infantil Amics de la Unió has participated in numerous international festivals and has been awarded in numerous contests. Among the most recent prizes there are the Josep Anselm Clavé‘s best recording for the Els Colors del Mar album (2018), the Guido d’Arezzo Award (2017), the first prize at the 47th Choir Contest of Tolosa (2015) and the Silver Rose Bowl of the UER competition Let the Peoples Sing! (2013).
During the 18-19 season, Veus has collaborated with the OBC (The Mass by Bernstein in October 2018, The Kings Return – The Lord of the Rings in January 2019, Turandot in May 2019), with the Banda Municipal de Barcelona (The Christmas Concert in December 2018), with the Gran Teatre del Liceu (Un Conte de Nadal – A Christmas Tale – in December 2018, Tosca in June 2019) and with Jordi Savall (Saint Matthew Passion in April 2019).
He has recently participated in the Castell de Peralada Festival (The Magic Flute in August 2018, Turandot in 2016), has participated in the Saint Mark Passion by JS Bach conducted by Jordi Savall in a concert tour in Catalonia and France, with a performance at the Philharmonie de Paris (March 2018), it has participated at L’Auditori with the OBC (Kaddish in February 2018), and in operas and concerts at the Gran Teatre del Liceu ( Un Conte de Nadal, Un Ballo in Maschera and Wherter in 2017, Macbeth and Otello in 2016). He has also performed at the Festival of Ancient Music in the Pyrenees and in the Cap Roig Festival among other stable programs.
It has published several discs and DVD’s, the most recent ones are Els Colors del Mar – the colors of the sea – (July 2018) and VEUS (December 2017), recordings of two of the two most successful shows of the choir. Also worthy of note is Un Barret de Cançons (November 2016) with songs by J. Vila i Casañas, Un Conte de Nadal – a Christmas tale – (2014) by Albert Guinovart, with the Orquestra Camera Musicae, There is no rose (2012), where there are songs of the Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols and the Rutter’s Dancing Day, with arrangements for percussion by Joan Vidal Llobet.
